LT KINO 2026: ANALOGUE 16MM FILMMAKING
LT, DE | 2026 | Workshop | R: Leon de Backer
Cinema begins long before a film reaches the screen. This year, COME CLOSER invites you to discover what happens behind the camera – and experience the magic of shooting on film!
Together with filmmaker Leon de Backer, we invite you to discover the craft of analog filmmaking in a hands-on workshop using a classic Bolex 16 mm camera and real film stock. Starting with a specially prepared film set, participants will learn the essentials of shooting on 16 mm: loading the camera, measuring light, setting exposure and working with different lighting setups. By experimenting with the direction, intensity and quality of light, they will discover how even small changes can transform the image.
Together, participants will shoot a short film on Kodak Vision3 colour-negative stock, following the process from setting up a shot to developing and scanning the footage. The workshop offers a chance to get behind the camera, experiment and experience the distinctive process of making films on celluloid. Leon de Backeris a Belgian-born, Berlin-based photographer working across portraiture, music, editorial and documentary photography. With a background deeply rooted in analog photography and film production, Leon combines a strong visual language with extensive practical knowledge of photographic processes. His work has taken him from photographing musicians on tour to producing portraits, editorial stories, artist imagery and creative projects for cultural and commercial clients.
Participation fee: €50
Places: Limited to 5–10 participants
